FAQs - Your questions answered
A Will is one of the most important personal documents you will prepare. It allows you to express exactly how you want to provide for your loved ones and support cherished causes on your passing.
Having an up-to-date Will gives you peace of mind. It relieves your loved ones from unnecessary costs and additional stress during difficult times.
Without a Will, your assets are distributed using a legal formula which may not be in line with your wishes.
We recommend speaking with your solicitor. Seeking their advice helps ensure your Will is valid and reflects your wishes.
If your Will doesn’t involve a complex estate, you may wish to consider using an online Will writing platform such as EveryWill.
Your solicitor can help you include a gift to Mission Australia in your Will. They only need your instructions, our ABN (15 000 002 522) and our registered name (Mission Australia).
If your affairs are relatively straightforward, you can also write your Will online using EveryWill.
You can also speak to our Gifts in Wills team. We are happy to answer any questions you might have.
Most of our supporters choose to leave a ‘residual’ gift, which is a share of your estate after loved ones have been taken care of.
This gift is automatically adjusted for inflation, so it holds its value over time. It’s also the most flexible way to give, as it doesn’t require updates to account for changes to your total assets.
Your solicitor will be able to help you write your Will. We don’t stipulate exact wording, but below are some examples:
Residual Gift
I give ________% of the residue of my Estate to Mission Australia – (ABN 15 000 002 522) for its general purposes, free of all duties and declare that the receipt of an executive officer at the time, shall be sufficient discharge of my executor’s duty.
Pecuniary Gift
I give $_________ to Mission Australia – (ABN 15 000 002 522) for its general purposes, free of all duties and declare that the receipt of an executive officer at the time shall be sufficient discharge of my executor’s duty.
Your Will is personal, and we respect if you wish to keep your gift private.
However, we would love to thank you personally and ensure you receive special updates on topics important to you and the impact of your giving.
The Gifts in Wills team would be happy to hear from you. Please email us at giftsinwills@missionaustralia.com.au or call us:
