Ending your tenancy
Giving notice to move out
If you’re planning to end your tenancy, let us know in writing. We’ll help make the process clear and fair.
- If you’re on a continuing lease, you need to give 3 weeks’ notice (21 days)
- If you're at the end of a fixed-term lease, you need to give 14 days’ notice
- In some situations — like if you've been offered public housing or have urgent personal circumstances — we may be able to discuss a shorter notice period.
Please talk to your Housing Manager if this applies to you. Once we receive your written notice, your Housing Manager will get in touch to explain the next steps.
Leaving without notice can lead to extra costs
If you leave without giving notice, this may be considered an abandoned tenancy. You could be charged for any costs we need to recover, and you’ll still need to pay any rent or debts owed.

What happens before you move out
We’ll organise two property inspections:
Pre-vacate inspection – around 5 to 7 days before you move
This gives you a chance to check the condition of the property and make any final repairs or cleaning.
Final inspection – within 48 hours after you move out
We’ll check the property against the original condition report and confirm whether your bond can be returned. You’ll be invited to attend both inspections, and we’ll let you know if anything needs to be fixed before the final handover.
Returning your keys
You’ll need to return all keys (including any copies you made) on the day you move out or the next morning at the latest. If you don’t return the keys: You may be charged a daily rent fee until we receive them
We may apply charges under our Debt Management Policy
